Using Google docs for collaborative learning

Souad KOUACHI and Antonio FERRAGAMO will both be able to spend £100 on technologies of their choice for sharing with us their ePractice. Both are winning with 4 votes each. If you have not had time to check out their ePractices , it is not too late, just click on the links above.

I am pleased to also announce that Rupert TOWNSEND has won £20 for commenting Tony's "Using Google docs for collaborative learning" practice:

"This sounds like an excellent suggestion, especially useful for cash strapped students and increasingly squeezed staff alike. Any useful software that allows group sharing of ideas can only be of benefit for group projects and inclusive communication."

Congratulations also to Terry Ball & Julie Riley!

They are our Oct/Nov 2011 Best shared ePractices winners...

Our Oct/Nov 2011 Share of Best ePractice Competition was very successful indeed with 846 views altogether!

I am pleased to announce that Terry Ball and Julie Riley are our winners with their shared ePractices: Prezi for L2 Business Students and Linking a picture to a file. Both have won £100 Tech Voucher!

Sally Pearce and Thelma Segal have also won £10 Tech Voucher each for their constructive comment below.

Please note that unfortunately a number of votes were disqualified due to single and/or students’ votes being posted. Please see rules below.

It seems that the current sharing system is causing a flood of emails and a number of members of staff have requested a change of submission format. I will redesign the competition voting system in January and will update you.

I hope that the 5 shared practices were valuable to you and that you will be able to embed them in your daily practice to enhance your role and the learning & teaching experience at EFC. Re: Special Friends by Sally Pearce - Tuesday, 6 December 2011, 11:16 AM

“This is a brilliant site for our PLW students....and anyone who may be vulnerable or has a learning difficulty or disability. For many of them Facebook is not appropriate for many reasons, but Special Friends is easy to use and is very safe. It is great that it is constantly monitored and there is the "Smiley Talk" app which makes it easy for those who cannot use a keyboard to have conversations with their friends. The site is worlwide so it means you can have a special friend anywhere in the world.

Most of our student have now joined "Special Friends" and it is a great fun way for them to develop their IT skills.”

Re: Prezi Presentations L2 Business by Thelma Segal - Tuesday, 13 December 2011, 11:09 AM

“BTEC year 2 Merit grade requires a presentation so Prezi will be another tool for them. I am delighted to give them an edge in the workplace too. I love the interactive CV element. In today's tough market the need to show initiative and Prezi is a good tool to demonstrate that. “

Thank you for participating in our competition. Together we will harness technologies at EFC!
